Ok, here's another bunch of MMM photos. This round I haven't forgotten to take photos, yay! I can't believe there's only one week left of Me Made May. It has gone by pretty quickly I must say. And it hasn't been difficult at all to stick to my pledge of wearing at least one me-made garment every day.

Slender pencil trousers from Burdastyle x 2

Lately I've been sewing a lot trousers it seems, maybe not a lot, but at least two pair and one pair of shorts too. I've been chasing a TNT pattern for slim trousers and I finally found one!

Perfect slim trousers!

I had been thinking about these trousers from Burdastyle for a while, but didn't think it would be any use to try since I'm a size EU46 and they only go up to EU44. But after making the pattern below in size EU46 and they turned out way too big, I thought I might give it a go.

Turned out oh so big, not tight in one place...

So I made two pairs in denim fabric, dark blue and neon pink!

I know there are some wrinkles and stuff in the back, but I don't care, I'm super happy with my new trousers! The blue ones turned out a bit too big at first so I took them in down the sides 1-4 centimetres. On the pink pair I overdid it a bit and they turned out too tight... But that's fixed too now!

The alerations I made was to add 7 centimetres to the length (the patterns in Burdastyle are made for women of 168 cm and I'm 175 cm) and instead of adding 1 cm seam allowance I added 1,5 cm. I also put exposed zippers in the back instead of invisible zippers in the side. I tried two different techniques for that which was fun.

This is technique one!

Yes, the trousers are cat inspected and cat approved! :)

Zipper technique two!

For the first zipper I used this video tutorial by FashionSewingBlogTv. For the second zipper I used a tutorial from Pattern Runway. Both tutorials were excellent!

What I like especially about this Burdastyle pattern is that the waist is kind of high, I have figured out that I prefer high-waisted trousers. For the second pair, the neon pink one, I raised the waist even more in the back, about 2 cm.

Anyway, I would totally recommend this pattern, just remember that the trousers aren't as slim as they look in the photo on Burdastyle. What are you working on?

Eurovision song contest

Currently watching the Eurovision song contest and I can't believe how few points Sweden are getting!

Besides Sweden, my favourite is Hungary, such a cool song!

Are you, or have you been, watching the Eurovision song contest?

MMM '13 week 3 day 13 to 16

Here's another update on MMM, not a whole week this time, but Monday to Thursday.

Monday 13 May

I had the stomach flu during the night and didn't feel very well during the day either, so I wore my Burdastyle jersey trousers in teal and a me-made t-shirt, I just can't remember which one. I hope I'm excused for not having a photo from this day....

Tuesday 14 May

Black eyelet Laurel blouse and neon pink Burdastyle slim jeans (to be blogged). Going to a staff party our bosses arranged.

Wednesday 15 May

Breton striped t-shirt and Burdastyle slim jeans (still waiting to be blogged...). Ordinary workday.

Thursday 16 May

T-shirt and Ginger denim skirt. Yet another workday....

I must say that MMM is going a lot smoother than I thought it would. I thought it would be a challenge to find things to wear and not get bored with the things you wear. So far I haven't worn many garments several days, it seems it's only my Burdastyle jersey trousers and my two pairs of Burdastyle slim jeans. Oh yes, the striped Onion jeresy dress too. How about you, are you having a hard time with MMM or is it going smoothly?

Unselfish sewing part 4 - Onion jersey dress for my best friend

My best friend Eleonor has her birthday in the beginning of March and I decided to make her a dress. I chose Onion 2017, which I've made for myself several times and is made from jersey fabric, so I could make the dress without measuring my friend. I made her a size small which was perfect!

She was visiting me on Friday and I took the opportunity to take some photos of her wearing the dress!

I chose this colour combo to make the dress office-friendly, since Ellie (my nickname for her) works at an accounting firm.

I'm so glad she liked it and I hope she will get a lot of wear out of it. She is so nice and thoughtful and kind, truly such a good friend, so I really wanted to do something nice for her. She likes crochet and if you want to see what she's made, check out her blog: virkligen.blogspot.se. She makes the cutest amigurumis.

Bye for now,

Johanna

MMM '13 week 2

Hi everyone!
I thought this post would never be... but here it is. Last week was really bad, I wasn't feeling well (I'm quitting my antidepressants and didn't go about it the right way and got withdrawal symptoms, geeze this makes me sound like an addict, I got SUPER dizzy and couldn't do anything but sit or lie still) and my daughter got the stomach flu and of course so did I...

As a result I haven't taken any photos on tuesday, saturday and sunday. Buuut, I have been sticking to my MMM pledge and have been wearing at least one me-made garment everyday. So here's what I've got...

Monday 6 May

Polka dot Onion jersey dress. Working all day.

Tuesday 7 May

(I know I don't have a photo but this is the next best thing)...
Kimono style top (photo on top) and Burdastyle slim jeans (photo below, still to be blogged). Working all day.

Wednesday 8 May

Striped Onion jersey dress. Was supposed to be working but had to go home because of dizziness... :(

Thursday 9 May

Polka dot Simplicity 2245. Free from work because of Christ ascension.

Friday 10 May

Ottobre cardigan and Burdastyle jersey trousers. Still free from work, lounging around the house, got a visit from my best friend Eleonor (who took the photo for me).

Saturday 11 May

I don't have a photo from this day, but here's a sneak peek of what I wore: neon pink Burdastyle slim jeans!

Sunday 12 May

No photo from this day either, but I did wear my Burdastyle jersey trousers in teal as in this photo!

I hope I'm excused for the lack of photos since it's been such a bad week. I'll try to do better this following week! :)

Later,

Johanna

MMM '13 - week 1

It really is only half a week so far in MMM '13, but so far it's a breeze! My commitment was to wear at least one handmade garment everyday, so it's not very hard, but May has 31 days so we'll see how I feel towards the end of the month... :)

Wednesday 1 May

Burdastyle t-shirt,  recently finished Burdastyle trousers (to be blogged later) and Vacation head scarf. Free from work, celebrating May 1st.

Thursday 2 May

Cropped trousers. Normal workday.

Friday 3 May

Onion jersey dress and Ottobre cardigan. Visiting my sister's.

Saturday 4 May

Laurel dress. Celebrating mum's 60th birthday.

Sunday 5 May

Ottobre cardigan, Kirsten kimono tee (which I noticed right now I haven't posted about) and Burdastyle trousers (same as May 1).

I hope all the participants of MMM '13 are feeling as good about their decision to join as I do.

Bye for now,

Johanna
